The most visited park is the Verulamium Park (100 acres of parkland with a lake, café, pub and playground) and Victorian Clarence Park, presented to the people in 1894 by John Maple. The famous National Rose Gardens are located on the city outskirts.

Future Gardens and Butterfly World – A New Tourist Attraction in St Albans

St Albans is extremely proud to have the world’s largest butterfly park, which is a £25 m project. Currently known as Future Gardens, it will eventually become Butterfly World.

The 2011 Battle Proms at Hatfield House

The name Battle Proms comes from the Battle Symphony by Beethoven. On an annual basis, this popular event takes place on the grounds of 400 year old Hatfield House, home of the 7th Marquess of Salisbury.

Laughs in the Park 2011

St. Albans is rapidly acquiring a reputuation as a good venue for comedy gigs. The Alban Arena frequently gets national names to visit and perform. We now even have our very own comedy 'festival' annually, with Laughs in the Park. Now I wouldn't say it is anywhere near Glastonbury's exalted position in the national psyche, but as it's only the second year of existence, it still has time.

David Bellamy visits Butterfly World

Butterfly World, St Albans, will welcome David Bellamy this Sunday 10th October. David, the well-known conservationist, is patron to Butterfly World and will be there in person to meet visitors and speak about the decline in the butterfly species.
