Markets

St. Albans has been a market town since the Middle Ages. There are markets every Wednesday and Saturday in the city centre, selling a broad range of merchandise. Farmers markets are held on the second Sunday of every month and specialist French and Italian markets are held occasionally. In the run-up to Christmas there is a market every day.

Christmas Market at Charters Health Club

There will be a Christmas market at Charters Health Club, Russet Drive, St Albans, AL4 0DB on Friday 18th December 3pm til 9pm. Free Entry! Have a go at ice skating, fairground rides or visit Santa in his grotto; lots of craft and food stalls, festive refreshments, plus lots more fun for all the family.

Earthworks works!

Market day and the stalls are alive with the sound of music

If you were at the St Albans' Market last saturday, you may have found yourself seduced by the tunes of one of the top musicians of the West End.

REVIEW – Talking Heads at The Maltings Theatre

I am old enough to remember the original TV versions of the Talking Heads monologues by Alan Bennett. They were gentle and bittersweet, often with a few surprising twists. The Play's The Thing theatre company brought their production, featuring 2 of the most iconic monologues - A lady of Letters & Soldiering On - to the Maltings theatre as part of their regional tour.
