Arriving at the Radlett Centre, there is a buzz of excitement as fans of all ages; including, parents, children and their grandparents, hang out in the auditorium waiting for the event to begin.
CJ is one of the most experienced, dedicated and well-respected Michael Jackson tribute artists and he perfectly captures the electrifying energy of Michael Jackson’s live performances with the look, the voice and the moves!
This evening, CJ, with his band, backing singers and incredible dancers, recreated a spectacular performance of his favourite Michael Jackson songs with great lighting display, visual imagery and audio clips taken from Michael’s professional life.
Kicking off with ‘Scream’ from his 1995 album ‘History’, the song highlights the frustration and angering situations Hollywood stars have to deal with. Coupled with ‘They Don’t Care About Us’, the lyrics seemingly appropriate in that he continues to be a victim of allegation even from his grave.
Donning Michael’s iconic gold bodysuit, we jump into ‘Wanna be Startin’ Something’ re-enacting all the signature dance moves associated so fondly with the undisputed King of Pop.
The concert builds as we near the first half with a medley of our favourite Jackson 5 songs complete with afro’s and 70s-style costumes taking us back to his early days of stardom.
It just gets better in the second half as we hear some of his best-known songs taken from ‘Bad’, ‘Thriller’ and ‘Off The Wall’, favourites included ‘Don’t Stop ‘til You get Enough’, ‘Thriller’ and of course ‘Billie Jean’ – CJ’s perfected moonwalk undoubtedly getting whoops and cheers from the audience!
Drawing the night to a close with ‘Earth Song’, CJ spoke of Michael’s message: Love, Peace and Unity; his belief that we can all contribute to making the world a better place.
A great family experience and one that couldn’t come closer to the real deal, CJ even took the time to sign autographs and be photographed with members of the audience as an additional wow factor – a selfie I am proud of!
During these controversial times, it’s important to keep an open mind and do your own research. I believe Michael was a meek, quiet and loving human being who wanted to help people. His lyrics dictate who he was and what he stood for. There is a message for us in every one of his songs and with ‘Heal The World’ bringing everyone to their feet as the encore; I trust his legacy will live on.
