St Albans Cycle Campaign is holding a free meeting – Get ready for winter – on Wednesday 22 November 2017. You can keep cycling throughout the winter if you are prepared for the weather and riding conditions, and make sure your cycle is properly maintained. The main speaker will be Neil Watts of Addiktion Cycles who will demonstrate the basic skills in looking after cycles and preparing them for bad weather.

The Verulam Amateur radio Club is running a training course in St Albans for anyone interested in obtaining an amateur radio transmitting licence. The course will be held on six Wednesday evenings at 7.30pm starting on Wednesday 28th October 2009 with the examination on December the 9th.

Appearing at Kimpton Memorial Hall on Saturday Feb 11th 2023 is the only show in the UK dedicated to performing the great songs of American classic rock, from late 1960s through to the 1990s. From The Eagles to The Doors, Fleetwood Mac to Tom Petty, Lynyrd Skynyrd to ZZ Top, Bruce Springsteen, Lou Reed, Bob Dylan, The Byrds and Neil Young and many points in between. James Hannaway, owner of the beautifully renovated Rex Cinema in Berkhamsted, is now in the final phase of purchasing The Alpha (previously the Odeon Cinema) in St Albans. It is hoped that the last £100 K will be pledged or donated in the coming week bringing it to a total of £1 million.

Michael Jackson might be gone but his wonderful music lives on thanks to performers like CJ who brought his show-stopping production to the stage of the Alban Arena on Friday, October 26. The spectacular show, a kind of cross between a Michael Jackson concert and a stage production, is truly sensational. CJ has the not-inconsiderable support of four well-drilled girl dancers , a top-class four-piece backing band, plus dazzling lighting effects and video footage shown on a big screen and keeping everything in context.

Office politics take a dramatic turn at the Abbey Theatre Studio next week, with their production of Bull, a powerful play about workplace bullying, written by Mike Bartlett. Three colleagues, Thomas, Isobel and Tony, gather together before an important meeting with their manager, Carter. The company is downsizing, and one of the three is about to lose their job. It soon becomes apparent that Isobel and Tony have decided Thomas will be the sacrificial lamb, as they begin a barrage of insults, innuendo and uninvited physical contact, aimed at undermining and overwhelming him.

Braving difficult weather conditions, the audience of Art Fund members heard David Barrie outline the work and history of the organisation with illustrations of works ranging from a Bronze Age Dirk to an Andy Warhol.
