Trestle Arts Base – Events for Autumn/Winter 2009

TrestleArtsBaseTrestle Arts Base is situated on the eastern outskirts of St Albans and offers a choice of classes, public performances, workshops, hire spaces and a café. This contemporary building has been converted from a century old chapel is the home of the Trestle Theatre Company and the Trestle Young People’s Theatre.

The following is the list of autumn events, which has something for all tastes;

The Princess and the Pea

Sun 11 Oct, 2pm

Hans Christian Andersen’s bedtime tale, features puppets and dreamlike projections.

The Idiot Colony

Thurs 15th Oct, 8pm

Award winning play by Red Cape Theatre, based on accounts of incarcerations and experiences of young women in mental asylums in the 1940s.

Explore

Wed 28 Oct, 10am – 4pm

Half term back-stage experience of Trestle Arts Base; explore the workshop and have the chance to operate the theatre’s light and sound.

An exhibition by Lok Ming Fung and Cho Fung

5 Oct – 29 Nov

A ceramic designer and an illustrator hold joint exhibition of ceramic boxes, jewellery and illustrations. Free admission

Creative Force in Concert

6 Nov, 8pm

A blend of jazz with reggae and funk of African and European Influence, led by the flautist Rowland Sutherland.

Little Hippo and his Magic pen

22 Nov, 2pm and 3.30pm

Tam Tam Theatre bring an interactive version of an enchanting tale about little Hippo who loves his father’s red pen.

Giraffes Cant Dance – Family Christmas Show

19 – 23 Dec

Based on the best selling children’s book of the same name, this show is produced by the Blunderbus Theatre Company and tells the tale of Gerald the Giraffe whose bandy legs just can’t dance!
